Welcome!

Hello!

Welcome to my new blog about EDUC 584 - Integrating Technology and Literacy. This blog is part of a graduate class I'm taking at University of Saint Joseph. I hope to use this blog not only for class, but to display some of my students' work.

Here's a picture of one of my students practicing her sight words with links.

  1. We missed you in class today! I love the idea of having students practice identifying and creating sight words using links! What a cute hands on activity that I am sure had students engaged!

  2. Such a cute idea! I never thought of using links for anything other than patterning and counting. After viewing a bunch of animotos I had the idea of making a video of sight words. It would be cute to have students make the words out of manipulatives, take pictures of them, them make an animoto!

  3. I just love this idea of building sight words with links. Way to "tap" into students kinesthetic intelligence. I know many kindergarten and first grade teachers at my school who become very frustrated with coming up with ways for students to master their sight words. I think by using the links to build the words it allows the students to become more thoroughly engaged in their learning resulting in better understanding. I have been researching ideas about how to go about teaching Jayden his sight words before kindergarten (he's totally not into it), I found an idea that might work for some summer time fun...writing the sight words on the driveway with chalk and using water balloons to throw at identified words! Not to sure how it will work out but I will be using your idea, as well. He loves to build things so I think it will be helpful in getting him interested! Thanks for the clever idea.
